About Andy Mattes

Andy MattesA finance and business consultant who currently resides in Atherton, California, Andy Mattes has a 25-year history in corporate management, executive oversight, mergers and acquisitions, growth strategies, and equity management. Mr. Mattes is presently a member of the Advisory Board of Directors at Opera Solutions, LLC, and Violin Memory, a manufacturer of flash memory computer storage systems. He also counsels two early-stage start-ups: TransLattice and LonoCloud. Mr. Mattes served previously on the boards of two public companies: RadVision (Israel and New York) and Mphasis (India)

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Andy Mattes received a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes to study business management science at Maximilians University in Munich. He ultimately graduated from the university with a Diploma Kaufmann, the German equivalent of an MBA. Mr. Mattes is fluent in both English and German and can also hold conversations in Spanish.

Upon obtaining his Diploma Kaufmann in 1985, Andy Mattes found immediate employment with Siemens Communications in Munich. Advancing up the ranks of sales and product management, he would remain with Siemens for the next 20 years. His final role at the company would be as CEO of Siemens Communications, Inc., in Boca Raton, Florida. When he left the company in 2005, Mr. Mattes was also serving as a Group Vice President of the Siemens Communications Executive Committee.

After leaving Siemens, Andy Mattes accepted a position as Chief Sales Officer of Hewlett-Packard’s Technology Solutions Group in Palo Alto, California. From 2006 to 2011, he would undertake a series of Senior Vice President posts with Hewlett-Packard. By the time he left Hewlett-Packard to pursue his current consulting and advisory endeavors, he had risen to the rank of Senior Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Services for the Americas. In this role, Mr. Mattes oversaw 40,000 employees and was responsible for approximately $10 billion in revenue.
